Free Eye Screening Camp at Longding Dist.

3 days free eye screening camp held at Longding dist. (Kanubari, Longding & panchaw). The camp was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar in collaboration with Wancho Student Union and camp was supported by Light for the world, Austria & Mission for Vision, Mumbai.

In this 3 days camp more than 700 students were screened and more than 250 free spectacles distributed. 30 cataracts detected and referred to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital for free surgery. Wancho student union has promise that they will arrange the transportation for these patients.

One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s

One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s was held on October 27, 2018 at Balijan, Papumpare district. The program was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and the program supported by the District Medical Officer, Yupia, Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh. The program is a part of Comprehensive eye care program of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, which is being supported by Light for the world, Austria and Mission for Vision.

 

The training program aims to train ASHA’s in identifying basic eye disease and vision screening. After the training, the ASHA’s would do door to door household survey and identify the patients with visual impairment and blindness. The identified patients would be screened in the subsequent confirmatory screening camps. Those needing medicines or glasses would be dispensed at community level and surgical cases will be transported to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and free surgery would be done.

Free Eye Screening Camp at Toru Circle, Papum Pare district

One day free eye screening camp held at PHC, Toru circle of Papum Pare district. The camp was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and its supported by Light for the World, Austria & Mission for Vision, Mumbai. Total 180 peoples screened. 30 Cataract detected and 32 spectacles distributed. Total 18 patients transported for cataract surgery at RKMH.

One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s

One day training program on Vision screening for ASHA’s was held on September 22, 2018 at Community Health Centre, Kimin, Papumpare district. The program was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The program is a part of Comprehensive eye care program of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, which is being supported by Mission for Vision, Mumbai based NGO.

The training program aims to train ASHA’s in identifying basic eye disease and create awareness among the society. After the training, the ASHA workers would do door to door household survey and identify the patients with visual impairment and blindness. The identified patients would be screened in the subsequent confirmatory screening camps by R.K. Mission eye Outreach team. Those needing medicines or glasses would be dispensed at community level and surgical cases will be transported to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and free surgery would be done.

25 ASHA’s from various areas of Kimin attended the training program. Speaking on the occasion Dr. (Mrs.) Mengia Tato, M.O. Incharge, Community Health care, Kimin thanked Ramakrishna Mission Hospital for selecting Kimin area for this special training on eye care. ASHA workers of Kimin have been doing commendable work in various National Health Mission activities and urged them to do eye screening so that maximum number of blind people may be screened and given definitive treatment.

Dr. Talum Sorum, Ophthalmologist, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, was the Resource person for the training program. He conducted the day-long training with interactive training sessions and slide presentations, covering topics such as “Anatomy of the eye, Common eye disorders, Eye safety for children etc”.

Sri Bikky Sunar, Project Manager, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar explain about the last year performance after the training. Camp date has been fixed; two camps are going to conduct by RKMH team in Kimin and Kakoi area. He also explains that if any surgery done from any ASHA’s area, that ASHA can earn incentive for each surgery after the first check-up of the patients.

The participants were awarded training certificates and Honorarium at the end of the program by Dr. Talum Sorum.

The program was organised by Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The program is a part of Comprehensive eye care program of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, which is being supported by Light for the world, Austria.

The training program aims to train ASHA workers in identifying basic eye disease and vision screening. After the training, the ASHA workers would do door to door household survey and identify the patients with visual impairment and blindness. The identified patients would be screened in the subsequent confirmatory screening camps. Those needing medicines or glasses would be dispensed at community level and surgical cases will be transported to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and free surgery would be done.

55 ASHA workers from Sagalee area attended the training program. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Bomjer Bam, M.O. Incharge, Community Health care, Sagalee thanked Ramakrishna Mission Hospital for selecting Sagalee area for this special training on eye care. ASHA workers of Sagalee have been doing commendable work in various National Health Mission activities and urged them to do eye screening so that maximum number of blind people may be screened and given definitive treatment.

25 ASHA’s from Doimukh area attended the training program.

Sri Amit Mandal, Manager – Program Impact, Mission for Vision stressed the importance of ASHA workers as they are the connecting link between the community and health care establishments. He praised the role of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital especially in uplifting the overall eye care scenario of the state.

Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary, RKMH also spoke on the occasion, he explain the importance of eye work in community.                

Dr. Lobsang Tsetim, Senior Ophthalmologist, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, was the Resource person for the training program. Dr. Lobsang Tsetim conducted the day-long training with interactive training sessions and slide presentations, covering topics such as “Anatomy of the eye, Common eye disorders, Eye safety for children etc”. He requested all the ASHA workers to work with full zeal and enthusiasm to make this program a success

The participants were awarded training certificates and Honorarium at the end of the program by Sri Amit Mandal.

Fruits distribution to the indoor patients of hospital done by Cheif Guest Shri Kumar Waii, Guest of Honour Shri S.B.K. Singh, Smti Taba Yall Nabam, Councillor, ward no. 5, Itanagar and Police officers.
